India and the US need to collaborate on the battery supply chain, especially for critical minerals like cobalt, graphite, lithium, manganese, and nickel, according to the India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA). They urge the countries to develop a diversified supply chain independent of any single country. IESA emphasizes the need to build an alternative supply chain free of Chinese influences. China currently dominates lithium, cobalt, and rare earth elements production and processing. The US and Europe are also seeking to develop domestic battery manufacturing aiming to eliminate dependence on China. India is working to strengthen agreements with the US in this area.
