What AI already does well in supply chain management
Many organizations are already benefiting from the use of AI in supply chain management. AI is currently good at two things needed in supply chain management: forecasting and inspection. Forecasting is used to predict downstream demand or upstream shortages, while inspection identifies problems in manufacturing and certifies materials and components. However, the challenge lies in the level of data sharing required, which is currently lacking in supply chains. Companies like Amcor and Intel have started experimenting with AI to optimize their forecasts and better meet customer needs.
